Creating planetary maps require a set of specialized tools for the creation, management and publication of your map. To foster reproducibility we encourage the use of open source tools and standards (see for example the geopackage standard).

As europlanet-GMAP initiative we provide support for the usage, the creation and modification of open-source alternatives to proprietary software, both by connecting the community of developers with real users and by providing tutorials and documentations for the most common use cases.

Some of the tools we are developing for the community regards the creation of geological cartography, the consistency checking of the geometries and the validation of the final products.
